I love Italian lamb (an important diet staple in Abruzzo, as you know) so I can only imagine how good the lamb from the Dingle Peninsula must be. I don't think I ate lamb on my only visit to Ireland many years ago when I was in college. Hoping to get back one day soon.

A lot of the lamb sold in Rieti is sourced in Abruzzo which of course exists on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of quality (a reflection of the undeniable beauty and biodiversity of where they graze). Parts of Rieti and la Sabina were part of Abruzzo until recent history so we are fortunate to share a common food story. We love our arrosticini over here! I do hope that you can try the lamb on the Dingle Peninsula someday. Please get in touch if you plan a trip!

You probably know that the Abruzzessi claim Amatriciana sauce, since that part of Lazio used to belong to Abruzzo LOL!

Yes! As they should! I feel a little too strongly about this 😅 and I plan on writing about this fact at the end of August when I attend the sagra! 😉
